How To Handle Sound Problems During Indoor and Outdoor Corporate Shoots

Capturing audio for your corporate video production whether it's inside or outside isn't always easy, since you could be faced with problematic ambient noise. Following this guide will make you aware of the common sound issues that occur when filming on location, as well as teach you how to tackle these problems. With our advice, you will be able to combat these problems before they have the chance to wreak havoc on your corporate shoot.

Outdoor Problems

Recording audio outdoors can give you a whole host of problems that are difficult to combat. Ambient noise such as traffic, animals, industrial work and even noise from passersby can be picked up and lower the quality of your audio.

You can try and minimise the sounds by finding an area which might reduce ambient sounds such as alley ways and enclosed spaces. Adapting your filming surroundings can really improve the sounds that get picked up. Don't forget about your equipment either. Direct your microphones to certain angles to minimize outside sounds and sound blankets can cushion any unwanted audio from entering your mics.

Indoor Problems

You would expect shooting inside to be a lot quieter, but you will be surprised how noisy it can be once you get the cameras rolling. Anything from air conditioning and office fridges to noisy colleagues and phones can cause real audio problems on set, as well as your own equipment at times.

Luckily most of these sounds can be stopped by turning off the appliance and using directional microphones and sound blankets to minimize other noises. To avoid these issues early on try to scope out your locations first before you try to record your audio and make sure everyone around your location knows that there is filming in progress.
