What is training video production?

Training video production is the process of creating video content that is designed to train and educate employees, customers, or other stakeholders on a particular subject or skill. Training videos are often used in corporate settings to train employees on new processes, policies, or procedures, but they can also be used in other contexts, such as educational institutions, government agencies, and non-profit organizations.

Training video production typically involves several steps, including:

  1. Pre-production: In this stage, the video production team works with the client to identify the training objectives, determine the target audience, and develop a script and storyboard for the video.

  2. Production: This stage involves filming or animating the video content, using techniques such as live-action filming, animation, or screencasting, depending on the type of training video being produced.

  3. Post-production: After the filming or animation is completed, the video production team edits the raw footage, adds music and sound effects, and incorporates any necessary graphics or animations to enhance the visual appeal and educational value of the video.

  4. Delivery and distribution: Once the video is completed, it can be delivered and distributed to the target audience through a variety of channels, such as online learning platforms, company intranets, or physical media such as DVDs.

Overall, training video production is a valuable tool for organizations looking to deliver effective and engaging training content that can be accessed and used by employees, customers, or other stakeholders at their own pace and on their own schedule.

What is the benefit of using video for training and onboarding?

HR teams are using video for all aspects of their work, from virtual training and recruitment to creating culture videos and staff spotlights.

It's the most engaging and effective way to communicate educational, informative and business-critical information effectively while saving you time and money.

In fact, employees are 75% more likely to watch a video than they are to read text. And 42% of employees would rather have flexible video options – such as pre-recorded messages – in addition to scheduled virtual meetings.

What do I need to do to get started with training video?

It’s simple, really! You tell us your objectives, who your audience is, your deadline, and your budget, and we’ll provide you with a quote.

To begin producing your video, we'll need you to be clear about your objectives and who your audience is.

We have a saying at Venture that we’re not just about making videos that just look good. We create videos that gain real results because they're driven by real insights.

But don't worry, if you've not done that strategic thinking yet, we can help you look at your objectives, goals and audience and support you on this journey.

We manage projects where clients have had no video experience, all the way through to those very familiar with the medium and what’s involved.

Why should I work with a training video production company?

A professional video production agency will have all the skills and expertise you need to make your video a smooth-sailing success — video producers, animators & motion graphic designers, marketing experts, strategists, the lot!

From strategising, scripting, storyboarding, animation, casting, filming, editing, and making sure your video gets seen by the right people through marketing, it's the full package.

How much will my training video cost to make?

If you’re looking to create remarkable video content that really makes an impact, you’re going to need a budget which reflects that.

How much you'll spend is dependent on the skills needed, the type of production and the time involved to create it, but the investment for video production typically starts from $15,000+. Request a quote and we can have a chat about what's possible with your budget.

How long does it take to produce a training video?

At Venture, we work hard to complete your production on time and within budget. Typically, most video productions take 6-to-8 weeks to complete. There are lots of stages in the production process we need to go through in order to create something truly remarkable.

Obviously, sometimes clients need things faster than this if needed, and it can be possible to deliver that. If you want to check our availability, definitely give us a call!

How much input do you need from me?

For you, most of the work is done once you’ve sent over the brief. Because to begin producing your video, we'll need to be clear about your objectives and who your audience is.

Download our handy video brief template to see the kind of brief we’ll need from you to get started.

After that, we’ll just need you to be timely with your feedback. Communication is key, so think of us as an extension of your team. From storyboards to animation and scripting, we always work closely with you to ensure you’re happy with the direction of your video.

Do you provide scripts, or do I have to provide them?

Our award-winning team will guide you through the process from start to finish. We’re here to tell your story in the most compelling way possible.

The scripting process is one of many elements of the creative process that our team oversees and delivers. Our team of professional scriptwriters will make sure your message resonates with your audience in the most effective way possible.

Of course, if you already have a script we’re happy to take that on board, but we will have to go through it to check it syncs up with what we have in mind visually.

How long should my training video be?

Your audience’s attention is valuable. You’ll be working hard to get it in the first place, so it pays not to waste it once you have it. And this means being concise in your communication. The shorter, the better.

Generally speaking, most videos are from 10 to 90 seconds long, but it all depends on where you're planning on putting your video.  Some Youtube ads are even just 6 seconds long! You just need to be sure that those 6 seconds really pack a punch.

If you feel that your video does need to be longer, then this is still possible - just make sure the info you are including adds value.

How many rounds of amends do I get?

Our production team work hard to make sure that you’re really happy with the content of your video at every step of the way.

You'll get two opportunities to make notes on everything you want to change so you’re happy with the final product. So that’s 2 amends, 3 versions.

Is it possible to update my training video in the future?

Once a video production is complete, we keep the project files in storage for up to 3 years. Let’s say you’ve had a rebrand and need to make some changes — so long as it’s within that 3-year period, we can definitely accommodate that.

What are the 5 phases of video production?

The 5 phases of video production are planning, pre-production, production, post production and marketing/ distribution.

What is a training video called?

Training video is also sometimes called instructional video. They are the ideal medium for providing employees or students with learning, training and educational content.

What should a training video include?

A good training video should include relevant instructions to the task or process you're training for (with learning objectives), a clear narrative, and interactive elements to ensure understanding.

Wht are the 6 types of training?

While there are numerous forms of training, the following six types of training are the most essential for employees: Orientation training, onboarding, product training, technical training, soft skills training and mandatory training.

How do you structure a training video?

How to make an instructional video

  1. Step 1: Determine and get to know your audience.
  2. Step 2: Write a storyboard and script.
  3. Step 3: Record your narration.
  4. Step 4: Record your screen or capture video.
  5. Step 5: Edit the video.
  6. Step 6: Add a video intro.
  7. Step 7: Share your video.

What makes a training video effective?

How do you make effective training videos? The number one thing to do to create a high-quality training video is to make sure the content is relevant and relatable. Of course, things like visual effects, music, and other enhancements help, but if the video isn't interesting and informative, your video will fail.
